    • Husky Brown ‎...without doubt, giving back to the people something free. Most artist don't want to give back to the community and slums around the world, hence why I've give people opportunity to free download some of my work via photocopy machine and have some fun. Thanks for the shout, No rules in street art, we are the rules! Respect.

HUSKY BROWN STREET ART AROUND THE WORLD

I've always loved travelling to and from various places on the globe where my work can reach many cultures and people from around the world.  When I saw the taxi in India, I new straight away this was going to be street art transported through the city and the police was around at the time wondering what we was doing with large paper prints and paste buckets.  The locals were cool and the kids got involved with being part of the project. Families came out to watch me paste an African Women on the side of his transportation, and tourist became attracted to the moment. It’s beautiful partnership bringing cultures together, using the large scale photographs to communicate within memory.

The poster “What My Eyes Can See” was for an article I read about a young man being beaten in Prison from guards for stealing food. There was loads of controversy surrounding the story and everyone had their own interpretation.  I later spoken to one his family members and requested a photograph of the prisoner, before he died, and felt his image would shadow India.
People from cities gathered around and started praying, under the wall poster, which felt surreal. I knew spray painting or large paste throw-ups were no-longer a game, and people can be touched if it’s done with the right intension.

JR: PROJECT WRINKLES OF THE CITY - LOS ANGELES

The Wrinkles of the City is a world-scale project aimed to be presented in various cities around the world where human wrinkles as well as architectural, can be found. Before Los Angeles, JR has pasted The Wrinkles of the City in Cartagena, Spain (2008) and in Shanghai, China (2010). In Spanish, the project is entitled Los Surcos de la Ciudad.

Los Angeles is quite a new city, the second largest in the United States. Following Cartagena and
Shanghai, JR wants to bring his Wrinkles of the City project to Los Angeles in 2011. This time, the
purpose of the project isn't to meet witnesses of the changes that have occurred in the city or in their own lifes. Los Angeles is the place where the Hollywood myth was born, with its stars system, the glamour and the beauty being part of the identity of the city. For this project, JR wishes to oppose the wrinkles of old people living in LA and the marks of their past with the image of perfection or regenerated beauty in the XXIst century. For instance, in Southern California, plastic surgery is no longer a luxury but a lifestyle. It is now socially accepted, above all cultural and social barriers. With this approach, the most interesting part of the project is to spread these old wrinkled portraits in the city, using the gigantic urban development as a huge canvas. Contrary to Cartagena or Shanghai, JR wont paste on ruins or destoyed walls and buildings. The city is considered by planners and geographers as a forerunner and model for the development of American metropoles. The "City of Angels" appears as a laboratory of "urban postmodernism", that offers large new and recent walls to paste downtown and all around the suburbs. Considering JRÍs way of working, Los Angeles could become a real open air museum.

Titi Freak - Installation in Newcastle @ Onethirty3 and the streets of Japan

Quote from Arrested
It looks like Titi Freak has been busy in Japan getting up on the streets (seen after the jump) as well as painting this mural for the Crazy Crimers 2 group show. This was certainly not the first time in the “Land of the Rising Sun” for the Brazilian born and based artist as he draws influence from his South American roots as well as his Japanese heritage.
This sweet piece should give you a taste of what’s to come later on this month in the UK. For one night only (February 24th), he will be christening the walls of One Thirty 3, a new space in Newcastle. Sounds like this will be the modus operandi for the gallery as they have also scheduled some one night only shows for the rest of the year – April/May: Sickboy/Word to Mother – June: Herakut – August: Retna – October: Gaia. Each show will also be accompanied by an original painting and 33 limited edition prints (hence their name).
Take a look at more photos of Titi’s work in Japan after the jump…
